This is a talk given by Thomas LaRock (@SQLRockstar to you Twitter-folk) at an event last fall in NYC called SQL Inspire; it was put on by a relatively new group in the SQL Server world called SQLPeople, which focuses on the personal community that exists among SQL DBA’s around the world as opposed to professional/technical development.
The talk is 17 minutes long, but don’t let that scare you away; watch it when you have time as I think it does a good job of describing what I see here at my current employer House of Brick and what I hope to do a better job of in my life.
UPDATE: I failed to note what caused me to think about this particular topic, @SQLRockstar's recent post "Reflections of Someday", an omission for which I apologize.
